rap/hip-hop: THE BIRTH AND THE UPRISING
Rap and Hip-Hop songs originally started out as tales and accounts of street living told through the style of "Spoken Word", over a beat and a rhythm; some artist of these genres have also discussed political issues and used these musical art-forms to discuss the struggles and realities of people living in crime-filled, poverty-stricken neighborhoods. Over the past few decades, these two branches of music have become highly influential to all sorts of people. Today, youth in urban and suburban areas throughout the U.S and countries all over the world receive new Rap/Hip-Hop hits and radio singles with open ears and become hooked.
